This 27-day ultimate Ugandan adventure is a deep dive into the heart of the "Pearl of Africa." It's designed for the traveler who wants to go beyond the highlights and truly immerse themselves in the country's incredible diversity. The journey encompasses a challenging 7-day trek to the summit of Margherita Peak on the Rwenzori Mountains, unforgettable primate tracking experiences with chimpanzees and mountain gorillas, extensive wildlife safaris in multiple national parks, and meaningful cultural interactions with local communities. With a slower pace and comfortable accommodations, this trip offers a balanced blend of physical challenge, wildlife spectacle, and cultural relaxation.

Phase 1: Arrival & Cultural Introduction (Days 1-3)

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
Welcome to Uganda! You will be met by our guide and transferred to your hotel in Entebbe. Relax after your long flight, perhaps with a stroll along the shores of Lake Victoria.

Day 2: Entebbe Exploration & Relaxation
Visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) for a gentle introduction to the country's wildlife. Later, explore the Entebbe Botanical Gardens or take a boat to the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

Day 3: Transfer to Jinja - The Source of the Nile
Drive to Jinja, with a stop at the equator for photos and experiments. In Jinja, take a boat ride to the actual source of the Nile River and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this adventure town.

Phase 2: Eastern Uganda & Wildlife (Days 4-8)

Day 4: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Drive to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda to see rhinos in the wild. Enjoy an unforgettable guided trek on foot to observe these magnificent creatures.

Day 5-7: Kidepo Valley National Park
Take a scheduled flight to the remote and wild Kidepo Valley National Park. Spend three full days on game drives in the Narus and Kidepo valleys, known for stunning landscapes and unique wildlife like cheetahs, bat-eared foxes, and vast herds of buffalo. Visit a local Karamojong community to learn about their traditional way of life.

Day 8: Scenic Transfer to Murchison Falls
Fly back to Entebbe and drive north to Murchison Falls National Park, arriving in the evening for a sunset view.

Phase 3: Murchison Falls & Western Journey (Days 9-12)

Day 9: Murchison Falls Game Drive & Boat Cruise
Morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, spotting lions, giraffes, elephants, and more. Afternoon boat cruise to the base of the powerful Murchison Falls.

Day 10: Top of the Falls & Transfer to Hoima
Visit the top of the falls to feel the thunderous power of the Nile. Then, begin the scenic drive south, breaking the journey in Hoima.

Day 11: Transfer to Fort Portal & Crater Lakes
Continue to the beautiful town of Fort Portal, nestled in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains. In the afternoon, take a guided walk around the stunning explosion crater lakes.

Day 12: Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary & Community Walk
Enjoy a community-led walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a birdwatcher's paradise. This is an excellent opportunity to support local community projects and see primates and other wildlife.

Phase 4: The Rwenzori Mountains Trek (Days 13-19)

Day 13-19: The Rwenzori Mountains Central Circuit Trek
This is the core adventure. Embark on the challenging and rewarding 7-day trek as detailed in your original itinerary (Nyakalengija to Margherita Peak and back). This includes the summit day and descent.

Phase 5: Primate Tracking & Lake Bunyonyi (Days 20-24)

Day 20: Recovery & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP
After descending from the mountains, today is for recovery. A short drive takes you to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a relaxed evening.

Day 21: Kyambura Gorge Chimp Trek & Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions
Morning chimpanzee tracking in the atmospheric Kyambura Gorge. Afternoon game drive in the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions.

Day 22: Kazinga Channel Cruise & Transfer to Bwindi
Morning boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a hippo paradise. Then, drive through the highlands to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 23: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi
The highlight for many! Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience. Time spent with the gorilla family is strictly limited to one hour to minimize disturbance.

Day 24: Community Walk & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Participate in a community walk, such as the "Batwa Experience," to learn about the indigenous people of the forest. Then, transfer to the beautiful, peaceful Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation.

Phase 6: Lake Mburo & Departure (Days 25-27)

Day 25: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Enjoy an afternoon walking safari or a boat ride on the lake, a unique way to see wildlife up close.

Day 26: Morning Game Drive & Return to Entebbe
A final morning game drive (on foot or by vehicle) in Lake Mburo. Then, drive back to Entebbe for a farewell dinner.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before transferring to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of an unforgettable 27-day journey.

Our 27-day trip includes the following:

  • All national park fees and permits (Gorilla permit, Chimpanzee permit, Rhino tracking, etc.)
  • Rwenzori Mountains climbing permit and guide fees
  • All accommodation as specified in the itinerary (Mix of comfortable lodges, hotels, and mountain huts)
  • Domestic flights (Entebbe to Kidepo and return)
  • A professional, English-speaking driver/guide for the entire road journey
  • 4x4 safari vehicle with pop-up roof and fuel for all road transfers
  • All activities mentioned (game drives, boat cruises, community walks, etc.)
  • Meals as specified (Full board on safari and trek, half board in cities)
  • Drinking water in the vehicle throughout the trip
  • All government taxes and VAT
  • Airport transfers on arrival and departure

Travel Documents:
Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates.
Ugandan Tourist Visa (can be obtained online or on arrival).
Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (Mandatory).
Copies of travel insurance documents.
Health:
Consultation with a travel doctor for recommended vaccinations (Typhoid, Hepatitis A&B, etc.).
Strong anti-malaria prophylaxis.
Comprehensive travel insurance with emergency medical evacuation.
Fitness:
This trip requires a very good level of physical fitness, specifically for the 7-day Rwenzori trek and gorilla tracking, which can be strenuous.
Packing (in addition to the Rwenzori gear list):
Lightweight clothing for game drives and lowland areas.
Neutral-colored clothing (khaki, green, beige) for safaris.
Binoculars and a good camera with extra memory cards and batteries.
A power bank for charging electronics.
A sense of adventure and flexibility!

Physical Demand: The Rwenzori trek and gorilla tracking are physically challenging. Prior training is highly recommended.
Altitude: The Rwenzori trek reaches over 5,000m. Proper acclimatization is built into the itinerary, but awareness of altitude sickness symptoms is crucial.
Long Travel Days: Some road transfers are long and on bumpy roads. Patience is key.
Weather Variability: Uganda's weather can be unpredictable, from hot and sunny to cold and rainy, especially in the mountains.
Remote Areas: Traveling in places like Kidepo Valley means limited connectivity and medical facilities.
Cultural Differences: Be prepared for a different pace of life and cultural norms. An open mind is essential.
